God can help. Here is one person’s experience of overcoming years long depression in a single evening:
If you’re looking for an object, and you look all over your house, search in your car, and retrace your steps, but you don’t look where the object is, you will not find it. That seems plain enough, but what about when you’re looking for peace, happiness, security, supply, companionship, purpose, meaning, joy, etc.? We often look to people, to places, to money, to jobs, and to our own prowess for fulfillment. Yet we’re simply not looking in the right places.
Timothy Evan Swire from Asheville, NC shares his experience of healing depression
A number of years ago, while working late, I was hit by a deep sense of depression. This condition had come and gone in the past, but it seemed particularly severe in this case. After a period of enduring, if not indulging, the challenge, I found myself thinking about Jesus’ “great commandment”: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matthew 22:37, 38).
Many, many people from all over the world, including some in our local Ann Arbor church, have had similar healings concerning depression.
We want you to know that you are loved! And you are welcome to come to our church services. You can meet some of our members who have dealt with and overcome depression through reliance on an increasing understanding of God’s great love for all.
We have a book store and information center where you can learn about how Christian Science can help you understand more about God’s love for you. It’s called the Christian Science Reading Room and is located at 306 E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor. Our phone number is 734-662-1694
You are invited to come in just to browse and read. You can also borrow or purchase the Bible, the Christian Science textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and other publications of the Christian Science Publishing Society. An attendant is available to answer questions.
